Art and Design
Welcome to art and design where we are committed to providing rich and exciting courses that tap into students’ own interests and ideas. A quick look around our studios and school displays shows the talent and diverse outcomes produced. In recent years our students’ work has been exhibited and celebrated both locally and nationally – with two of our students having their work exhibited at the prestigious Young Artists’ Summer Show at the Royal Academy in London.
For students undertaking an art and design course, there is a lot more on offer than the development of skills and confidence with new processes and techniques. Students learn how to think creatively and independently and exercise their problem-solving skills. Our qualifications have a large workload and students who work hard emerge with organisational and time-management skills that transfer to all areas of the curriculum. Self-expression is actively encouraged through artwork, written work and through discussion.
Our students tell us that they enjoy their art courses and many former students have gone on to have successful careers in architecture, design, animation and set design, to name just a few.
