Berlin Trip 2022
Over half term, twenty-four students from Year 10 spent four days in Berlin visiting many sites associated with modern German history. A walking tour around the old Jewish Quarter was very moving, with a visit to the Synagogue as well as seeing the stumbling stones which indicated the last homes of many German Jews. The horrors of the Nazi regime were further seen with visits to the Terror and Resistance museums and an excursion to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, where we witnessed the appalling conditions of political prisoners. The tour incorporated the most significant of Berlin’s memorials including those dedicated to the Holocaust victims and the Nazi Book Burning. We were fortunate enough also to be able to visit the Reichstag at night; walking inside its glass dome gave us a great view of Berlin’s skyline. The students were a credit to the school and their families, resulting in a great school trip for all.
