Criminology

Criminology is the most popular subject choice in our sixth form and rightly so. It engages students with society’s current love of all things criminal and encourages them to explore the reasons why people commit crimes and the journey evidence goes on from crime scene to courtroom.

We look at how to change laws and how other people have campaigned to change laws, with Y12 students even developing their own campaign to raise awareness of specific crimes, this involved developing their own campaign materials, from posters to coasters and social media posts.

In Y13 students analyse different people and methods for investigating crime scenes and we were lucky enough to take part in a real-life Crime Scene Investigation, the students took fingerprints, analysed a crime scene and even donned the full CSI forensics kit worn by SOCOs (Scene of crimes officers).
