Fashionistas at North
What a night we had of music, dance and fashion at North! The runway was set out; the music pumping through the decades; lighting to showcase the garments and to complete the show: our fantastic students of textiles, dance and music. Our head students George and Holly were ready at the mic' and the atmosphere was electric as we waited for the first models to appear.
The fashion show is the opportunity to showcase the talents of our in-house designers along with the opportunity to raise money for charity with a raffle. Our sixth-form students directed and organised the whole event as part of their work for A Level Fashion and Textiles. The raffle raised a whopping £337 for Cancer Research so we are delighted and wish to thank all those who bought tickets and the local businesses who donated prizes.
This was not just an opportunity to showcase the A Level work as all years were involved from Year 9 -13 as models; working the lighting; making cakes and selling refreshments.
Collections are produced within a year and examples are skill-based projects working to a design brief. Students used curtain and upholstery fabrics donated by a local home furnishing company to create some extraordinary work. It was most heart-warming to also see the work produced in the Friday after-school Craft Club which demonstrated the talent and dedication of the students.
For those of us there on the night, you may wonder where some of the very skilful creations are as they are not in the photographs included. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to show photographs of current examination work in any of our creative subjects in case the ideas are plagiarised, so we will need to wait a while for those images.
Very well done to all involved as it was a truly spectacular night of talent.
