NBHS Community Christmas

North Bromsgrove High School’s staff and students wanted to make this Christmas a celebration of the people of Bromsgrove who have so tirelessly served the community through the Covid pandemic.

As well as students and staff, the 24-minute ‘An NBHS Community Christmas’ also features representatives from a variety of organisations – from West Midlands Ambulance Service, West Mercia Police and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service to the Basement Project, New Starts and the Primrose Hospice. There are also appearances by Rev Ray Khan from St John’s Church, Vicky Onions from Vicky’s Convenience store, Burcot Grange and Asda.

The idea for the film came from local Bromsgrove resident and the school’s Assistant Headteacher in charge of their co-curricular program, Miss Charlie McKenzie, working with filmmaker Roger Marsh. We wanted to bring our CARE values to life as the C stands for Community. We stayed open throughout the lockdown, Easter, and May holidays in order to support key workers. As a school at the heart of the town’s community, we wanted to recognise the efforts of not only the parents who we’ve supported but their colleagues too, who continue to serve. Our students wanted to say thank you to these key workers and show their thanks through letters and cards to those not able to see family at Christmas in the Primrose Hospice, to showcase music, dance, and poetry to bring joy to local people.
