On Tuesday 8th October, eight of our year 10 female footballers, including our four Year 10 Sports Captains, were selected to take part in an ‘Introduction to refereeing for girls’ course at Worcestershire FA. The course was for students who have shown an interest in refereeing and want to pursue completing an official qualification.
The course introduced the girls to the personal attributes needed to be a referee as well as the basic ‘Laws of the Game’. During the day the girls gained a rounded experience of what it takes to be a referee.
The girls spent time in the classroom along with being out on the football pitch putting their new refereeing skills into practice and using their new whistles!
The girls had a great day and now have the opportunity to attend a formal FA refereeing course in February, once qualified they will be able to referee football games on a paid basis, a brilliant opportunity to pursue a career in the sports industry.
We are very proud of their sporting achievements!
