As part of Mental Health Awareness week, tutor time sessions focused on this year's theme: ‘Moments for Movement’.
All year 9 and 10 students created an individual footprint design which represented their interpretation of the theme.
Each footprint design has been used to create a 12-metre collaborative mural. The footprints all form letters to spell out ‘MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS’. The mural is now hanging in the school atrium at the centre of the school.
The Well-being Ambassadors decided upon this phrase for the mural to show North’s community values around supporting students' well-being and promoting open conversations around mental health.
Mr Gibson judged the footprint designs and awarded first prize to Year 9 student Josie. Some of the well-being team has since visited her in tutor time to congratulate her. Well done, Josie; what a wonderful design to showcase trying to get active to help with improving or maintaining our mental health.
At the end of the week, the Well-being Ambassadors put on activities for students all based on the theme of ‘movement’. Students had the opportunity to take part in hola hooping, long jump and high jump activities they had organised and the art students were out in force paining faces. Lots of praise points and prizes were given out during the day and praise postcards have gone home to the winners.
The house competition was also related to the theme ‘movement’ and we had some fantastic student entries. Chloe in year 10 was crowned the winner and awarded 10HP for her nature photography. Great work Chloe!
Ollie in Year 10 is one of our newly appointed Well-being Ambassadors. Following mental health awareness week, he wanted to go one step further in light of this year's theme moments for movement’
This June he is supporting ‘Young Minds’ by completing 300,000 steps in 30 days to raise vital funds for young people's mental health. Go Ollie!
